Chef Michele D’Oto brings new culinary experience to Collierville

The Shops at Carriage Crossing, a premier mixed-use lifestyle retail center located in Collierville today announced French, Italian and Spanish-inspired restaurant Café Europe has opened next to Dillard’s and Collierville Taekwondo.

Café Europe, the latest restaurant by Chef Michele D’Oto will occupy 3,482 square feet with seating for 70 guests indoors and with additional outdoor patio seating.

Café Europe will host Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and lunch Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner hours are Monday to Thursday from 5-9 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 5-9:30 p.m.

The menu features a variety of options such as gnocchi, paella, beef carpaccio and fish ceviche, as well as a cheese cart and dessert cart.

Known for Pasta Italia and The Pasta Maker, Chef D’Oto crafted the menu based on his life in Europe.

“I was born and raised in Italy,” D’Oto said. “I’m actually bringing all those dishes I learned and ate in the different countries of Europe where I’ve been: Spain, France, England and of course Italy. The purpose of this is that it feels like home. Some of the dishes that I’m bringing here are dishes that my mom made.”

D’Oto moved to Collierville in 2006 when his Biloxi, MS-home was hit by Hurricane Katrina. He quickly got involved in the restaurant scene and owned and operated Pasta Italia and then The Pasta Maker until 2018, garnering praise for his authentic Italian dishes.

“We are thrilled to welcome Chef Michele and his team,” said Greg Slowiak, general manager of The Shops at Carriage Crossing. “He is bringing a truly authentic experience to Collierville, and we’re excited visitors will get to enjoy it at Carriage Crossing.”
