veteran being honored

Army Sgt. William Sanford was the first veteran nominated to be honored in The Herald’s Salute to Veterans feature. He served during the Vietnam War era.

William Sanford is the first veteran submitted in to be honored in the Salute to Veterans feature next month.

Enlisted after graduating from high school, Sanford served during the Vietnam War era and was stationed in Naha, Okinawa in 1961 and Korat, Thailand in 1962.

Tocommemorate sacrifices offered and given, The Collierville Herald will be honoring local veterans and we need your help.

On Nov. 8, a special feature will be published sharing the stories of brave men and women who have served in the military.

To do this, the Herald is asking readers to visit our website to submit a photo and the story of any veteran they wish to be recognized.

“Collierville is home to so many veterans. We appreciate the sacrifices and service of these men and women,” said publisher Toni Rowan. “We want to make sure we show them how much we respect what they have done for this country.”

Submissions will be accepted through Monday, Nov. 5.
