Monday Collierville was named the fourth safest city in Tennessee by the National Council for Home Safety and Security.

To identify the safest cities in Tennessee, the council reviewed the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report Statistics. 

Collierville reported 986 crimes in 2017, according to the FBI, and 911 of those were property crimes. There were 75 violent crimes reported. 

The statistics showed the crime rate per 1,000 people was .02, violent crimes per 1,000 was 1.506 and property crimes per 1,000 was 18.297. 

Germantown was named the safest city in Tennessee. Brentwood, Gallatin and Portland rounded out the top five and Spring Hill, Franklin, Martin, Hendersonville and Soddy Daisy made the top 10. 

Tennessee was ranked the 38th safest state in the nation for property crimes and 40th for violent crimes.
