Collierville has been named one of the top five places to live in Tennessee by ChamberOfCommerce.Org.
The ranking was announced Monday morning and Collierville was named No. 5 in the state, behind Franklin, Millington, Germantown and Brentwood.
The town was called an “affluent suburb of Memphis that is home to a historic town square once voted ‘Best Main Street’ in America by Parade Magazine.”
The statewide Chamber of Commerce ranked a total of 2,509 qualified cities with populations above 25,000. The municipalities were ranked on employment (the number of establishments and median earnings), housing (owner-occupied housing with a mortgage and monthly housing costs), quality of life (work commute and poverty levels), education (percentage with a bachelor’s degree or higher) and health (including obesity ratios).
Coming in third, Germantown was listed as a “wealthy suburb of Memphis with a high median household income owing to a strong commercial and retail based economy.”
Millington was ranked No. 2 thanks to Naval Support Activity Mid-South, which provides over 7,000 jobs to residents in the area and is one of the largest employers in the state.
Collierville beat out communities like Oak Ridge, Hixson and Lenoir City, which cracked the top 10.
