Ricky Odis “Rick” Loyd, age 61, resident of Piperton, Tennessee and husband of Margaret Courtney Loyd, departed this life Friday morning, December 28, 2018 at his residence.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Loyd will be held at 12 Noon Friday, January 4, 2019 at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Ken Birdsong, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Arlington, Tennessee, officiating. Interment will be private. A visitation for Mr. Loyd will be from 11 A.M. until 12 Noon Friday, January 4, 2019 at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Rick was born December 7, 1957 in Humboldt, Tennessee, the son of the late Odis Odell Loyd and the late Mattie Virginia Thomason South Loyd. He was a graduate of Wooddale High School Class of 1976 and was married September 17, 1977 to the former Margaret Courtney. He attended Collierville United Methodist Church and was the Director of Procurement at Smith & Nephew in Memphis for 32 years before becoming Director of Operations at Sandvik then retiring in the same position from Odyssey Medical Technologies.

Rick enjoyed going to the beach, canoeing, fishing, world travel, lounging at the pool, NASCAR and “making every moment count” with family and friends. He will be remembered for being a very loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His generous and positive spirit brought out the best in everyone he met. He always looked to the Lord whenever he needed guidance. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Mr. Loyd is survived by his wife of 41 years, Margaret Courtney Loyd of Piperton, TN; his daughter, Jennifer Thomas (Gabe) of Southaven, MS; his son, Jeremy Loyd (Suzanne) of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Norma Thweatt of Franklin, KY, Rita Warner of Maroa, IL; two brothers, Charlie Browder of Panama City, FL, T.G. Sheppard (Kelly Lang) of Hendersonville, TN; and three grandchildren, Cameron Thomas, Catherine Loyd and Maggie Loyd.

The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
